A Baby Shower Fit for a {King}

I love planning a party. Especially a baby shower. And especially for a best friend, the expectant mommy. This one was particularly fun, and heightened the anticipation of the baby's arrival.....
For
Will it be a {Prince}? Or a {Princess}??

That was the question of the hour for the baby shower my college bff's and I gave for our friend, Jill, whose last name just happens to be King. We all combined our talents and delegated the jobs...hostess gift, locale planning, night-before fun, and all the pretty decor. We've done this quite a few times and planning a party with these girls is a breeze!

As the last event in a fun Atlanta mother-daughter weekend, we were tickled to shower this mommy to be, and her own mama too (the soon-to-be new grandmother) with a morning of brunch, fun games, and sweet gifts.

Early on, we decided on a color scheme of coral and spa blue for the baby shower. A crown motif would tie everything together, while having the party at King & Duke seemed apropos.

I used the fabulous Cheryl of VonnLou Designs on Etsy to design our paper suite. She did a wonderful job! We began with an adorable invitation that didn't reveal what we had in store for the mommy-to-be. Also in our suite were straw flags, confetti squares, a banner, a few signs, place cards, and our favor tags, all of which were accented by Renee's  fun "placemats" - alternating squares of pink and aqua - with gold confetti dots for a bit of sparkle.

Here's a table top view:

Everyone sat banquet-style for the delicious brunch....hello, cinnamon rolls!

I grabbed some of my favorite flowers to create low centerpieces in turquoise glass mason jars...bright orange tulips, soft cream David Austen roses, crisp green pennycress, pink ranunculus, tinge-of-pink garden roses, and Bells of Ireland.
They were lovely, bright, and cheerful just like the guest of honor herself!

Hollie, made this adorable banner to mark the new mommy's spot. I absolutely love the gorgeous greens tucked into the ends of the twine!

Flower close-ups:

Meghan cut and pasted the precious gold crowns that topped the hors d'oeuvres plate at each place setting.  Along with the gold crowns, each guest received delectable tassies from my friend Amanda's bakery, Buttermilk Pie Co. - caramel pecan and chocolate chess!

A few detail shots of the tables:

Kim supplied the fun games for the morning...a gender and birthday predictor calendar, and a super cute diaper decorating activity.
We hope that having something funny to read at 4am makes being awake at that hour a bit easier! :)

Loved planning this party with my favorite girls, and spending the morning with them, and their mamas too.

Hope you guys enjoyed a few peeks at this sweet brunch party!
Can't wait to meet Baby King soon!
