Reading Nook Under the Eaves

Give me an angled ceiling in a little spot tucked under the eaves any day.
This may be a small space, but man, did it come together in the most fun way!
The federal mirror is to die for. Really.
It begged to be seen and placed in a special spot.
We added two comfy arm chairs, the cowhide, and a few other fun fabrics and trims.
Check out those original heart pine floors, would you?
They are lovely!
We simply buffed them and gave them a new clear coat. Too pretty to cover up!

The shelves give a spot for the children's books and toys that need to stay...with 3 grandkids right down the street, they see this house a lot!
I would sit here and catch up on work every day!

Hope you enjoyed this room too.
There's still more to show of this house!

Until then, head over to Instagram and ShopMGD's cocktail Monday!

One Fun Family's Dining Room

Now that I've shared the living room and keeping room with you guys,  I wanted to share more of this fun historic house, oozing with charm and details and natural light. The dining room got a little re-fresh with new paint, window treatments, a gorgeous chandy, all over those incredible freshly-refinished floors.

Here are a few peeks around the space!

(ps. see last week's post for more on this house!)

The room is separated from the living room by those gorgeous stained French doors.
{Swoon}

My client has the most fun artwork to chose from, many of which has been done by close family and friends. This pair of countryside oils was just the right color punch for this corner.
And raise your hand if you're as obsessed with Belgian linen panels as I am?!?!?
They literally work in every space. (That's why you guys see them in my rooms so much!)

Love this little peek from the living room to the dining room.
And that you can see our punches of black around the house. Black adds prominence and sophistication to a room...especially via an antique tole platter and antique table and chairs.

On the other side of the dining room is the small sitting spot in the kitchen. My client and I share a mutual love of Chinois...a touch here and there is happy happy happy.
We both fell for the lacquer-red toile for a small shade, and complete with a zebra needlepoint rug.
A set of old wing backs are now covered in indoor/outdoor polka dots and look completely refreshed!

One more charming space that saw some fun additions is the tucked-away home office, with all of the original wood moldings. We added the mod Moroccan rug along with gray linen panels and salmon trim...tres' chic indeed!

Hope you guys have a fabulous Monday....stay tuned for more next week!
Oh, and head over to ShopMGD on Instagram for some super cute original artwork!!!

Client Reveal: Lots to Love in this Living Space and Keeping Room

What a FUN two years its been working with this client!!!
When you love a client this much, the job never seems like "work"....but I have had such fun helping them renovate this house and incorporate new pieces with their fabulous antiques.

Lighting, wall colors, hardwoods, and more all saw maja love. For a 100 year old house, it feels historically on point but modern and fun at the same time.

I love that the original moldings and surrounds were kept in tact, leaving some of them painted, but many just as they were. The refinished hardwoods look fantastic!

Over the next few weeks I will be sharing lots of this home...beginning with the front living space.
It's comfortable and a tad dressier than the keeping room at the end of this post. My favorite thing is how everything in these spaces works together to portray personality, presence, and character. Because that's really what its all about, right?!? Making sure the client is reflected in the work.

Here's a peek inside:

Bridging the front living space and the more casual keeping room is this fun hallway....a perfect spot to throw your bag and toss your shoes.
Ps. in case you haven't noticed, this client's antique rugs are to die!

And here is the super comfy keeping room....my fave!

I'm kinda nutso over this gray, green, and cream combo.
And That. Sofa.

A Cottage Kitchen

Hope you guys had an amazing Labor Day!

I wanted to share this gorgeous kitchen, recently completed.
We've done a TON to renovate this precious cottage, and I can't wait to share what all my client and I have come up with.
They began this lovely space below, and I helped pull together finishes toward the end.
I LOVE the way it turned out!

There's just something about white cabinets...they always make me feel good.
With a crisp white, subway-tile backsplash, its a great combo.

The fun element to me is this verde green island with that super-slab of a butcher block. AMAZE!

Some fun, vintage-inspired lanterns pull it all together.
Enjoy!
