A Bright Breakfast Spot for the Fam

This fun family of 5 needed a more functional dining spot in their kitchen - a place for meals, for homework, for entertaining...the list goes on. Building in a banquette for them seemed like the most fun option, as it saves space, provides storage, and gives you additional seating in the case of "extra" kiddos around the table. 

I love the new drapes to soften this space with the comfy pillows and bench cushion. Toss in a modern chandy, a farmhouse table, and blue & white jars and it's a fun, sophisticated, updated trad space.

A Little Dressing Room Fluffing

I wanted you all to see the fun transformation of a small commercial project I just completed: 

The dressing rooms at Heery's Clothes Closet in Athens

I've been a part of the Heery's family for over 7 years now, and have loved every minute! Working at Heery's Too during my days as a student at UGA, after graduation, and even after I got married, gave me a fantastic background in merchandising, display, and customer service. Over the years, I have established relationships through the stores with clients and friends. A little over a year ago, the Clothes Closet had an exterior makeover, as did Heery's Too, and I loved seeing the transformation while helping make those crucial decisions as a designer.

During that renovation, new floors were laid and lighting re-constructed in HCC, but the dressing rooms were still sportin' the same silk curtains that had been there for quite some time. It was definitely in need of a chic makeover. 

Just a little before shot of the curtain fabric:

I chose a color palette of whites, creams, metallics, and black as the inspiration for the new look. I really loved the curtain fabric, and was happy when it passed the Heery's test...it's nice to have all the wonderful ladies' approval! ;)

Next, I suggested painting the chairs for the dressing rooms and the mantel a high gloss black. I recovered the chair seats in a silver and black woven resembling snake-skin. 

The curtain rods were raised to streamline the new look too. 

Carol, the shop's head decorator/merchandiser/display planner, accessorized with a monochromatic palette, using gorgeous pieces from Heery's Too, and decorating for Christmas at the same time! 

Merry, merry indeed!

I designed the scalloped back banquette in a chic chevron woven in shades of taupe, gray, cream, and black. The trim is accented with shiny chrome nailheads.

Bird prints in earth tones, a mother of pearl mirror, textured baskets, and black and gold candle hangings keep the look pulled together.

The grasscloth ottoman adds another element of sophisticated texture as well.

Greek key and Belgian linen throw pillows atop the banquette give a welcome place of rest to the shoppers.

A gorgeous gold mirror hangs above the newly painted mantel piece.

I had the cutest install assistant ever!
