Pictures and plates: Before and After

I had fun hanging plates and pictures for a client one {cold} morning recently.
We began with some beautiful antique china: platters, oyster plates, and more.
I had some vintage egg prints in my stash, and it was a match made in heaven!
Here's our plan, laid out on the floor:

And the wall where we'd be hanging everything

Just a few more to go above the china cabinet:

And AFTER:

**side-note: The new window treatments, a blue, gold, and cream toile, are a fun combo with the new gold chenille leopard on the dining chairs. I love the chic addition of the plates and prints.

Stay tuned for more on this pretty house - we've been working hard!

A White, Gold, and Silver table, with a {hint} of green

Ok, so you've seen how I'd set the table for a traditional Christmas breakfast, and now I'm showing how I'd set the table for a more glamorous Christmas dinner.
Still keeping with the neutral palette of green, white and silver for the centerpiece, I jazzed up the place settings with a monochromatic palette of white, silver, and gold.

Candles are lit, the places are set....

For this place setting I used a combination of pieces....inexpensive silver chargers with my everyday Juliska dinner plate, and this gorgeous gold and white dessert set that was a super special 30th birthday gift.
The crisp white monogrammed linens were a wedding gift, as was the silver salad forks and spoons in my pattern, Prelude. The ivory-handled fork and knife, part of a lovely fish set, were my grandmother's. The ivory-handled butter knife was a surprise from one of my parents' trips.
The "G" monogrammed dessert cups were a fun Christmas gift, and the snowflake place-card-holders were on clearance at Target last year.

I began collecting silver julep cups in college, and I love the nice collection I've got now. They're so classic to me and always look appropriate.
My mercury glass collection began while I was engaged to be married, and it's so fun to add pieces to it.

The metallic surfaces really sparkle! And I love the gentle reflection on the polished wood table top.

While I was at it, I constructed a looser, more casual centerpiece for our breakfast table in a pretty pewter compote, flanked by reed and glass vases/hurricanes and my favorite cork-covered votives.

Simple greenery, cotton bolls, wheat, brunia, Queen Anne's lace, and green mums are combined for a gathered-from-the-woods look.

Hope you and yours have spent your day lounging around your table, enjoying each other's company, the air filled with laughter and love!

A Traditional Christmas Table

Hey blogger friends! Did you all see the darling post by my BFFFFF James? Check it out here! Didn't want you guys to miss it! He's the best!

Like I told you all yesterday, we recently got around to hanging the new drapes I had made for our dining room. I think they make the biggest difference, without distracting from the pretty view.
Here's the BEFORE:

And AFTER:
Fresh flowers, a set table, and candlelight

I'm still pretty ga-ga over our linen slip-covered chairs with the pretty monogram - my Christmas gift last year from my sweetie. :)
The chandelier came from my grandparents' home, the table belonged to my husband's great-grandmother, and the pine armoire was my in-laws'.

I used magnolia leaf place mats with a large blue and white plate underneath my grandmother's traditional Christmas china. I love the octagonal shape of the plates.
The casual red napkins are my husband's grandmother's, and we use them all the time! I imagined a laid-back Christmas morning when setting this table - complete with a sweet tea cup, a water glass, and a Murano glass goblet for a more {fun} beverage. :)

Surrounded by the silver of the mint julep cups, the flatware, and the candle sticks, the table would really sparkle when the candles were lit.

I had the most fun designing a few arrangements for our house. A Christmas mix of green and white with a touch of silvery gray...fresh greens, green hypericum berries, green mums, Queen Anne's lace, and brunia make a pretty combo for any table centerpiece.

Silver julep cups packed with berries, mums, and brunia are beefed up with greens pulled from the front yard.

Stay tuned for my other Christmas table tomorrow!
Merry Christmas friends!
