A Preppy Twist: A Little Boy's Nursery

This mommy-to-be and I were instant friends.
I just love when that happens.
:)

We had a great first meeting, and subsequent planning, to get going on her baby boy's nursery.
First on the list: re-paint the walls that obviously belonged to a little girl during the previous homeownership.

We decided on a soft blue-gray for the walls.

I love the result, and loved working to get things just right.
Baby Boy will be here in a few short weeks!

BEFORE:

This is one of my favorite cribs. I have had other clients use it too, and I always think its just as handsome as the last time.

The feel would be soft but preppy, with a bit of a nautical touch via the navy accents and a sweet porthole mirror.

We also blended a few styles - a la' the Moroccan rug, glam floor lamp, modern glider - which is right up my alley.

Check out the pics I snapped while installing:

I love this little gallery wall, and the simple pieces that we chose to reflect the couple's life and interests. The mid-century navy dresser is a super fabo find!

The shades of blues and grays are so fun for the little guy. Our light turned out great, and gives a nice glow overhead.  I am nuts about the dog art piece too!

Excited to meet the little one soon!

A Gray, Cream, and Blue Room for a Baby Boy

Hello, Baby Boom.
Hello, Dream Job.

How lucky am I?!?!
I get to help my friends/clients design spaces for their little ones on the way.
Geez, I could cry with how blessed I feel to do what I do.
I absolutely love helping my clients make their houses feel like home. And to do it for a baby who's almost here, well, its just such a treat.

The mommy to be and I decided on a color palette of gray, cream, and a hint of blue for this nursery. Her love of animals would be paramount, and my love for mixing styles would be conveyed too.

Check it out:

The gorgeous bed is classic and sophisticated, and the higher back makes for an easy focal point.
A rustic pine dresser holds all those darling baby essentials, and the large lattice print rug gives a nod to the mod.

Black accents lean to the industrial look in the handsome light fixture, the bold drapery rod, and the tall bookshelf (shown down below).

Full, double width cream linen panels + a classic linen glider and ottoman = soft and comfy for baby

The natural wood trough gives a perfect resting spot for all those adorable soft animals, and the woven basket leaves room for toys and books.

We chose to keep the bedding clean and crisp, and settled on a gray-blue and cream basket weave woven geometric for both the crib skirt and bumper. The crib sheet is a small print in yellow and white.

Adorable animal prints flank the bed and a precious mobile of felt elephants dangles over the crib.

I love this oversized, soft Mr. Elephant - he's perfect for play time and cuddles!

The bookshelf is one of those fabulous grow-with-baby pieces. It can be used indefinitely, really, as baby boy transitions to a big boy room and then even later.
But not to rush time, for now the shelf displays sweet, sentimental pieces.

Hope you enjoyed this reveal...this nursery was a joy to do!

A Woodland Nursery...gray, cream, and natural

True to the baby boom that is currently happening among my clients/friends, I have another nursery to share with you guys.
And I am pumped about it.

Seriously, this is one of my favorite ones I have ever been a part of.

Remember the sweet girl's room I just posted?
Well, we had to get ready for her baby brother to arrive. ;)

A color scheme of gray, cream, and natural linen set the tone for the room. There would be a monochromatic color palette layered with textures.
I think that with the result, we hit the nail on the head.

The iron bed is the gorgeous focal point of the room.
Framed by full, linen panels, it's soft and comfy, ready for the little one to arrive.

Y'all know I love a hide rug.
And this room kinda begged for one too.

A gorgeous white brindle now gives a hint of texture and provides softness underfoot.

The pretty cream glider, covered in a brushed chenille, has a little pop o' pattern with the fun tribal print pillow.

A precious wood-framed quote, the pedestal table, and a wood-grain lamp add layer upon layer of texture without sacrificing the soothing nature of the room.

It's pretty safe to say I am in love with this crib skirt fabric.
Seriously. In love.

More detail shots...

The double window is flanked by some super fun pieces. I loved the bamboo sunburst mirrors - the size was great - and I can not resist a vintage paint by number. The classic accent of the black wall shelf gives a nice contrast to the soft gray walls.

Original built-ins give the room a perfect spot to display sweet mementos and special toys, and a nice place to change a diaper in the middle of the night too.

I love the wall light -  a little industrial style moment in this corner.
And my super hubs installed it.
He's the best.

These little forest animal prints fit the space perfectly...they're great for a boy's room and are a cute touch of whimsy.

Now it's time for that baby to get here! :)
