A Mid-Century Kitchen Reno

I've worked on a lot of renovations, but this one is probably the most dramatic yet in terms of the "before" and the "after" - the scale of the space, opening of the walls, keeping the integrity of the house but making it modern (hello, new stainless steel backsplash!) at the same time. I could definitely see it in my head, and I am SO thankful these awesome clients trusted that vision....we are ALL so happy with how it came together!

The house is mid-century, but needed maja work. The kitchen needed to be done ASAP as the couple and their 3 young kiddos had to have an open space to cook, live, and play. The entire house is full of tongue and groove, so we wanted to play up all of the beautiful woodwork, especially the beams in the ceiling. Staining them dark, and keeping everything else a shade of white really made them architectural features. I can't wait to show you guys more of this home's transformation soon!

Hard to believe that this was the "before!"

And the "after"

A Delightful Dwelling

Working with these clients has been nothing short of a pleasure for me. I've had a ball getting to know them, and their taste too, for the refresh we've just given their beautiful home.

Last year, I got a phonecall from the sweetest lady saying she needed some help pulling a few bedrooms together. Well, as things go, we did those bedrooms, and then we slowly trickled downstairs too. :)

Today I am sharing a few peeks around their first floor of the recently refreshed spaces....shades of blues and creams now fill the Mediterranean style interior. I've even included a few "before" images to show you guys what a little paint can do!

Hope you enjoy!

Ps. Those bedrooms, the reason for the whole project, will be up in a few days. ;)

This was the "before" image of the living room fireplace wall. There was a lot going on on that one wall, and I wanted to create a spot for their new lovely painting (shown above), the basis for the whole room.

Now, here's the "after" - lighter, brighter, more welcoming.

A "before" image of the kitchen." It was time to make this space lighter too. I never get tired of white kitchens, and love how with a little paint, this one looks completely different.

The "after" shot - we popped off the accent molding pieces from the cabinetry, updated the island light and backsplash, changed the hardware, and painted everything a clean shade of white.

Here's a "before" image of the keeping room. We kept the ceiling as is, but with a fresh coat of paint on the built-ins, and grasscloth on the walls, this space is now much cozier.
