A Beautiful Master Bedroom: Before and After

Last on the list for the young family's home I've been sharing - the Master Bedroom.
The room is a nice size, and has great light. Chocolate brown walls had sophistication, but it needed pulling together - and I had plenty of ideas!
The headboard was great - simple linen with nail heads. But the bedding needed some zip, and window treatments were on the list as well. I wanted to find a way to tie in the chocolate brown with the cream and blue toile on the existing bedding. New bedside lamps would help too, as would something fun over the bed.

BEFORE

This corner seemed a little cold, and needed some love.

AFTER:
Robin's Egg blue lamps add a nice color pop against the brown walls while the mirror pulls in the finish of the nail heads on the headboard.
Cappuccino, white, and blue ikat drapery panels give the windows the lush treatment they deserved. Two toss pillows with a luxe blue embroidered bolster finished the look on the bed.

I love the pulled-together look now!

I thought this gold etergere looked fabulous against the wall color and gave us a nice place to add those precious baby pics.
The client and I both had been wanting to try our hand at the IKEA hack we've all seen floating around the blog world and on Pinterest.
What a fun project with big impact for little $$$!

I even did a pair of gold etergeres - the other of which is on the landing in the hallway. It's a nice place to display family photos and such, and having a pair is nice too - keeping in mind they could be used again in another house.

Have you all tried your hand at any IKEA hacks lately?

  2. The simple changes made a huge change with the bedroom. It is well lighted now and looks a lot pleasing than before. The bed looks more inviting and comfortable now.
